SHABBAT SAN DIEGO PARTNERS

Shabbat San Diego is an a-political, independent grassroots community organization dedicated to participating in a unique, international Jewish identity movement that unites all Jews to enjoy one Shabbat together. One of the key principals of Shabbat San Diego and the global program, The Shabbos Project, is the concept of inclusiveness. Shabbat San Diego is for everyone, affiliated and non-affiliated. Factional identities – all denominations, affiliations, ideologies and political differences – are set aside. Communal activities are structured to meet the needs of all and offend no-one. The tagline, “Keeping It Together”, refers to Jews of San Diego and around the world, across divisions and denominations, sharing this experience together.  Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein, the originator of this global program, said that this “is a people’s movement in which every Jew is a partner. The Shabbat Project is founded on the equality of all Jews and their right of connection to our Torah heritage. (We), in principle,  seeks to bring together Jews of every background and level of observance…  all Jews have an equal connection to each other and to Shabbat.” Keeping It Together also alludes to the unique individual restorative powers – the opportunity for deep physical, emotional and spiritual rejuvenation – that the Shabbat experience affords each and every one of us to keep our lives balanced.
