Shabbat San Diego Description:
Since 2014 Shabbat San Diego has been a unique individual, community and international event that is inclusive, educational, authentic and meaningful. It is a transformational program for building a vibrant and sustainable San Diego Jewish Community and global solidarity. On November 2-5, 2023, in more than 1,400 cities in 97 countries across the globe, over 2 million Jews will celebrate an International Unity Shabbat, One Shabbat Together. Shabbat San Diego is coordinating and planning, in conjunction with over 130 local congregations of all denominations, community organizations, schools and youth groups, a series of free community events intended to attract both affiliated and non-affiliated Jews in San Diego County. Prior to the pandemic, over 17,000 San Diegans attended Shabbat San Diego events and we want to welcome all of them back! Our objectives are to offer individuals the opportunity to have their most meaningful Shabbat yet, build local community unity and express international pride and solidarity. We are striving to invite each of the 50,000 plus Jewish households in our county to participate in Shabbat. We will be kicking this year off on Thursday November 2nd with a Shabbat San Diego Shabbat Market, where San Diegan will be able to find all they need to welcome Shabbat into their homes, lives and community. And using our weekend as a starting point for yearlong program with the LFJCC creating community unity through the lens of Shabbat. We expect over 20,000 San Diegans to attend during our weekend and beyond.
